As you can guess, we get plenty of messages a day from people who are wanting to promote our clothing brand and receive free or discounted items. Our messages fall into our message requests, but here are some tips on how to get out of the requests and into the inbox of start up brands as a promoter.
1. BE POLITE.
We can’t stress this enough, the first thing we recognise when someone is in our requests is their manners. If you come across in anyway demanding, or untrustworthy, we are very unlikely to accept your request and respond. It costs nothing to come across in a courteous manner.
2. BE REASONABLE
We are amongst millions of small brands on instagram, and with being a small brand, comes having a small budget, and an even smaller marketing and PR budget. We need to be selective when it comes to working with influencers, and we need to be in a position where we can negotiate what works best for the both of us. If you come to us with a proposal, we are more inclined to negotiate, rather than you just asking for free stuff.
3. BE PATIENT
If you are looking to approach a small clothing brand, please be aware that often they are only a team of one of two behind that platform. Replying to DM’s can be a long and tiring task, especially when you’re receiving around 100 per week (or more)! Through you being understanding and respecting businesses owners time, we are more inclined to get round to replying when we are ready and at a point to do so, and through you not sending an extra 20 messages to bump your message, this ups our estimations of you already.
